Tolerance on distance refractive power
The tolerances shall apply for distance refractive power (back vertex power) and must be measured :

  • at the optical center for unifocal lenses,
  • at the center of the distance vision for bifocal lenses,
  • at the control circle for distance vision for progressive addition lenses.

    • The tolerance on power is determined by the absolute power in the meridian of highest power.

    Tolerances on optical centration and on the prismatic power
    The precision of the optical centration and the prismatic power must be measured :
  • at the geometrical center for unifocal lenses,
  • at the center of the distance vision for bifocal lenses,
  • at the prism reference point for progressive addition lenses.
